Volunteer Teams

“One person can make a difference and everyone should try.” John F. Kennedy

We are grateful for the contribution made by visiting missions teams and we couldn’t do what we do without them.  You are invited to join us as we build a nation through building lives full of hope and bright futures.

Daniel is a carpenter and was able to put his skills to use to help build a house for a local family in need, as well as help complete maintenance on the buildings at the village.   Naomi worked with other team members to run a series of workshops with the kids that built social skills and furthered the children’s English. The children had so much fun and we got to know them well over the course of our trip. Naomi also was able to significantly contribute to the production of over 400 reusable sanity napkins as part of one of Empowering Cambodia’s goals to improve the health of local villagers in the area.  Our daughters also made some incredible friends that they hope to see again one day soon. We have taken away so many memories from this trip and are grateful for the opportunity to impact the lives of these generous people.”

In Dec 2015 I was able to travel with my daughter’s husband along with a small team to finally experience the project for myself. Read More

I worked with the building team to complete a house for one of the local families living near the centre who previously only had a hut to live in. I spent time getting to know the local staff here, from the fieldwork coordinator to the cook and cleaners. They all moved me with the compassion and love that they showed in their work and towards the local community. I was struck by the warm reception of the local community overall and specifically the family for which we built the house. I very much hope to come back in the future to continue the work we have been doing and to nurture the relationships I’ve built with the staff.

Coming on a trip like this is so eye opening. You know in your head that there is a big difference between developing and developed countries. But it’s not until you actually go and experience it for yourself that you understand how big that gap truly is and why this work is so important.”

The Empowering Cambodia team assisted in our planning prior to, and the day to day logisitics while there with such professionalism and care that our experience was all the more remarkable.
Our team had an absolute ball continuing the relationship started 2 years ago with the beautiful Cambodian people and I have been greatly encouraged by the impact Empowering Cambodia has had on the people. We witnessed a people who have new joy, who have taken ownership of their village, who are seeing better health, who are generating income through sustainable means, and whom have a hope of a future. And greatest of all, we have heard their children speak of the Lord as their God.

The impact they are making on the local community is evident – they are not just helping a few, but assisting a whole community.  A wonderful example of sustainable development.”

My first visit to Empowering Cambodia was back in 2010 and I have been back twice since then. I feel right at home every time I return to the village and the staff always welcome me with open arms! Read More

Spending time with the children and seeing their smiling faces is always a highlight, as well as being so well looked after by the team (especially when they make my favourite – condensed milk coffees!).

The work that EC is doing is amazing and it is such a privilege to be able to witness just a small part of it when I am there… EC truly is empowering the nation of Cambodia! ”
